Magical Creatures
Wampus Cat- It is reminiscent of the common mountain lion or the puma, both in shape and appearance. Wampus Cat is native to the Appalachian region. You can walk on your hind legs, and it is faster than an arrow. Its yellow eyes are said to have the power of hypnosis and legilimency. The Cherokee Indians knew the Wampus Cat precisely, with whom they shared the territory where they lived. Only they were successful for years in the search for Wampus Cat hair for making magic wands. In I832, sorcerer Abel Treetops of Cincinnati claimed to have patented the method of domesticating the Wampus Cat in order to be used to guard the witchcraft houses. Abel Treetops was considered a cheater when MACUSA searched his home and found him casting congestion spells with Kneazles. One of the houses of the American School of Witchcraft, in llvermorny, was named after the Wampus Cat.
