Curiosities of the Saga

  • JK Rowling wrote the last chapter of Harry Potter in 1990, seven years before releasing the first book.

  • In London, at the “King's Cross” train station, a replica was created in honor of platform 9 3/4, with a cart with suitcases and a cage crossing the wall.

  • JK based the character of Hermione (a witch daughter of muggles and best friend of Harry Potter), at age 11, on herself at the same age. She even made her Patronus an otter, which is her favorite animal.

  • Sirius Black's tattoos (a fugitive from Azkaban prison and godfather to Harry Potter) were inspired by the tattoos that gang members use in a Russian prison, these tattoos identify that the person who has them should be feared and respected.

  • People didn't know how to pronounce Hermione's name correctly, so the writer had the idea that in the film "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" Hermione would explain to Viktor Krum (seeker of the German quidditch team, considered the best seeker in the world and student at the Durmstrang Institute ) how to say your name correctly so that fans know how to pronounce it.

  • 40 versions of the Salazar Slithering medallion (creator of the Slithering house at Hogwarts school and one of the school's four creators) were created to compensate for Harry and Ron's failed attempts to destroy him during filming.

  • The logo of Hogwarts (school of witchcraft where Harry Potter studied) says Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus which is Latin and means «never tickle a sleeping dragon»

  • The name of Salazar Slithering was inspired by Antonio Salazar because the writer lived many years in Portugal and how cruel Salazar was to Portugal JK decided to put that name on the most cruel founders of Hogwarts.

  • The staircase of the Lello library (a library located in the city of Porto) was the inspiration for the famous staircase at the Hogwarts school.

  • The uniforms that students at Hogwarts school wear are inspired by the uniforms of Portuguese university students.

  • After Fred Weasley's death his twin brother George never managed to conjure up a Patronus.

  • JK originally was going to kill Arthur Weasley but instead decided to kill Sirius Black.

  • Dumbledore created a method of communication between Patrons that only he and the members of the order of the phoenix know how to use and that is how the members of that order communicate

  • No matter how powerful a wizard is, he could never bring anyone back to life.
